changes in administration of concession for blind individuals
Public concessions should be provided directly by the public entity offering them. It is unreasonable to require blind individuals to receive passes through CNIB. TransLink should administer the program directly. This would offer flexibility in how and where individuals could take advantage of this concession. A letter from a physician, or a signed oath, should be sufficient proof of blindness to trigger the issuance of a specialized Compass card. Individuals could either send photos or TransLink could arrange for proper photo ID.
I completely agree. Translink should administer all Translink cards, and this absolutely applies to the specialized cards for blind passengers. It is unreasonable to expect blind people to go through a third party, people who have varying opinions and trust levels of this tthird party. This is a Translink card, so Translink, please let blind people get our Compass cards directly from you.
